Chuckles, THAT is exactly what happened to the Unfortunate character in my game Sunday. He just happened to be standing where the four guards were when the combat started, and I didn't even plan it! It was great. He incidentally is also the one with Eyes of Death

Anima - Role Playing Game / Game Rules / Re: Questions about Notion of Use

I knew I forgot something last night. Yah, Ritual and Notion are VERY similar, except for the fact that to use Notion you need to 'synchronize' your self to the item to use a Notion of use, where as anyone who knows the proper word, gesture, thought or what not, can use Ritual. If the items you are making would be considered 'cookie cutter' or 'factory made,' that is common that, when they were made, all those who make them know how to (for example 95% of the items in D&D ), then they would likely be Ritual. Those unique items, for example Ring of Elemental Control, and similar items, would be Notion of Use. And there is a benefit to it. If you are fighting someone, and have uses a Ritual power, and say one of the guys snatches your weapon, well now, he can use the power too. Notion of Use however, might LOOK like Ritual, but when your enemy tries to use it, he will be unable to.

Isn't the Ark where Tol Rauko contains all the supernatural beasts they capture? That would be my vote for what it is at least. And, maybe it IS the Ark that Bibilicalish Noah made; you don't think that 4 people could muck out ALL those stalls. Putt em in stasis!
Pretty sure behind the Seven Seals is Upnapistim, and it seems to me, that the art work and story of Gaia enforces the idea that Upnapistim, though it did shatter the world, is also the 'womb' of a certain near god-like mischief maker. And contrary to what is written there, it is not Rah who sealed it, unless of course she was able to go in and out of it at will via magic, and she was working at the center of Tol Rauko the WHOLE time, which would be priceless. I assume that the Seven Seals have made the chamber Upnapistim is contained within impenetrable to mere mortal and high magic.

I think basically, with Notion of Use, you need to know HOW to use the power, be it needing to shake the wand three times and say "shabadoo" or swing the tip of the weapon in a figure eight. They don't define the actual NoU in the book, leaving the GM to determine it. A holy sword that produces a holy strike may require the wielder to say a specific prayer to use it. The reason you would use NoU powers is, basically, you don't WANT that holy strike to go off every single time you swing the sword. So you need to learn, figure out, or what not, how the power activates. The more powerful the NoU power is, the more complex it is, the harder it is to determine how to use. You may know that the weapon you have picked up is a powerful weapon able to unleash a holy strike, but you need to unlock its ability by learning how to do so. Hope it helps.

Nonexistent = never comes in to play. 1. Unattractive. Pretty much useless as the chars with this stuff either use some disguises or don't care about social life whatsoever. 2. Exclusive Weapon. Since the character already have the weapon he want this flaw will come in play only after the GM will introduce some needle with a quality bonus, or disarm this character of his needle (I remind that Exclusive weapon means one particular weapon, not every weapon like this one). However then this flaw cripples character so severely so most GMs 'll avoid it to not to cause whine. 3. Deep Sleeper. And again this flaw either not playing at all or leads to character death, which means again that most GMs will not use it or use it with a velvet gloves at best, like incompetent ambushers who pose a threat only because of this disadvantage.
Of course it is a matter of a personal playstyle but I prefer to avoid such free CP's and if I would ever allow them then I'd just provide every NP I need with 1-4 "free" CP. Well, not so free of course, this NPC will die in a 6 month due to terminal disease, have severe allergy to milk and easily possessed. Or he was a rookie slow learner with vulnerability to cold (while there is no cold user in the party). I call it fair play.
Rather than write them off as 'well they will never activate' or 'they are free CP" a good gm will lure the player into a false sense of superiority. Couple levels goes by, and his 'free cp' disadvantages haven't kicked in. Then, hit them with a social situation. He could sit out sure, but then he is loosing out in role-play (and he gets penalized in XP). He could cover it up his ugly with makeup, but what if there was more to just ugly. If you don't think a disadvantage is worth it, make it worth it. Make him have a voice that is so grating, that people would rather hear fingernails on a chalkboard (cringes just at the phantom sound of that). Give him deformities that simply cannot be covered up. If he has a huge growth on his face, a hunchback (that doesn't hinder him, so its not HUGE but enough to make it visible). Exclusive weapon in general can be a hindrance, but disarms and the like, while not common, happen. And if the guy has the weapon in his hand, well, how are you going to get it back. Martial Art as a EW can be tricky, but my understanding is that it applies to only one MA, so you only use the bonuses from IT, and if you choose other MA bonus, you suffer the penalty. As for deep sleeper, it is mostly free CP yes, but the GM is letting it if he doesn't throw in a few late night encounters. He wants the flaws, he needs to realize they are flaws. Its the GMs duty in the end to work those things into the game, and make the player pay for them. However, as you said, it is also up to the GM to veto, I just suggest ways to mitigate the so called 'free cp' issue How ever, with this specific case, Lizbeth also points out that Exclusive Weapon applies to ONE weapon, not every weapon of its type. One of the needles he wields is his EW, and all others are not, so unless he is a melee combatant, he is going to need some way to get back his EW needle, or suffer the penalty. He may want to get a different Disadvantage personally. One guy blocking the attack could destroy your weapon, thrown or not.

Well.. I think this character wouldn't fit in to any of my campaigns. Using broken Eyes of Death along with nonexistent flaws...
I am just curious Lizbeth, what nonexistent flaws are you talking about? Exclusive Weapon, Deep Sleeper and Unattractive are all valid Flaws in the core book. Getting a Critical every hit, at the cost of 2 CP and a Level Adjustment, or 3 CP is pretty balanced I think. Considering some of the other things you can do with those CP. I found out yesterday that the Criticals didn't slow down the game at all. Keeping the book open to the page, he made his attack, and then made his critical roll, adding the damage he dealt, and if he needed a location he rolled it. The only suggestion about using EoD I would give, if you were concerned, roll a second pair of d100 so that you have the Critical Roll ready. GM tells you the percent damage, and you can return with "X damage and Y Crit." If need be roll a 3rd so you can give location. Additional d100s are not that expensive . Additional, you can give him a copy of the page so he can run the Crits himself. Delegation of duty!

However, many within the world have come under 'scrutiny' of the Beryls and Shajads, and have acquired a fair level of synchronization with many of them. Elisabetta herself is synchronized with all the Beryls and Shajads with the exception of Abbadon, while Romeo Exxet is synchronized with two of the Beryls.
Additionally, its seems to me that the names within the Core book is their 'Catholicized' names, as there have been other names for them mentioned. I cannot think of them right off. And in these forms, while its a bit of a fuzzy area, if the Anima Catholic Church is anything like ours, they renamed gods of the old faiths they came across, absorbed them into their own, and call them angels, or in the case of these entities specifically, Archangels.
Personally, that is how I represent them most commonly in my games, at least among the Catholics. They themselves don't care for the most part, so long you you stand for something they do, you may draw their attention.
The Beryls would have likely been adopted as Angels, and the Shajad's as fallen angels (and likely turned into males by the Church!).

I know its been a while since anyone posted, but I would imagine that, like the Barrier in the real world, there are ways 'through' the infinitely tall scary wall in the Wake . Though I imagine those passage, visible or not, are guarded by Imperium on our side, and either Techocracy or Illuminati on the other (depending on how you go though).

Nah, Elisabetta appears and demands that you're now her boyfriend/girlfriend and have to carry her books to school. If you refuse, Nemesis beats your head in with his wooden sword.
Is Elisabetta trying to see if she can get Nemesis jealous. If he could feel it, I feel sorry for new boyfriend; he gets hit if he does what she says and if he doesn't

hey everyone, thanks for the discussion, its been helpful. I think I will deal with it with - while within the object they are bound to, the timer stops, but while they are outside, doing things, the timer starts up.
