I don't like painting skin.  In fact, I hate it.  Sadly, I have to get used to it.  So I pick out a model without a helmet, and I start...and the paint on the skin is not going on very well...very rough.  What can I do to save the situation other than soaking the thing in some sort of paint stripper?

If you want just the paint on the face off, get a really stiff bristled brush (or a really beat up one) and scrub with it and water.  You'll get a little of the surrounding area as well like the hair but it should do you alright.

I'm going to venture a guess that your skin paint went on too thick?

Yeah...that and it turns out GW "Elf Flesh" doesn't look like a proper flesh tone.  Anyone know where I can get a proper flesh caucasian flesh tone?

Try P3 Ryn Flesh, shaded with Khardic Flesh.

I use GW elf flesh as well but it is a bit, er, pale.  I believe that was the paint I used when I was informed it looked like I had applied a mud mask to my model Wink

I use the P3 flesh tones too and flesh wash... they seem to work really well.

Start with Khardic flesh, Flesh wash, highlight with Khardic flesh, wash again (very lightly, you may also choose to leave this step to a little later) and then just progress up the flesh toned paints until your happy.
