I can't see this being an issue, although it feels that it is defeating some of the purpose of summoning.
Unless you were implying the Familiar flying around and attacking enemies around the battle field. In that case, I would have to say that the Familiar should be using its own stats.

That sounds more like an Artifact than a Familiar to me. Not buying a melee creature's Attack ability is too much of a cheap way to circumvent spending DP.

When i first came up on the forum about monsters turning into weapons i though of it more as a way to have 2 things: 1: potentially very cool and exotic looking weapons and; 2: a way to have special properties on weapons, for example if the monster has a mystical effect on its natural weapons its carried over in its weapon form. But otherwise i dont see any reason that the character would use any attack ability other then his own for the weapon, and aprat from minor changes to the weapons stats depending on the monster, i cant see how the monsters stats would greatly affact aspects of the weapon or combat with the weapon

I agree with Swordwraith, this is what Artifacts are for. You want weapons like the ones in baldurs gate 2 which had all kinds of special effect then thats what Artifacts are for.

Unfortunately, there's so little printed information in English on Artifacts. As far as the current ruleset goes, this may be the most appropriate way to do so. *is a bit of a stretch*

I agree with Sword on this being an artifact sort of thing, though I can see the appeal of having creature traits on a weapon (namely, the damage and special attack ones). Though, should you get the urge to be awesome, you could always make weapons that can be summoned and run a Power Rangers game in Anima =D That would be awesome!

must have 5 players, and possibly a girlfriend of one of the players to come in at a later time with 100 more DP than the rest of the party.

I dunno why but when I looked at this topic and the idea behind summoning weapons my first inclination was to think of Gilgamesh's Babylon Gate power in Fate/Stay Night >.>
Anyway, I think its feasable to summon a creature thats physical form is that of a weapon, but im not sure if youd be able to use special powers it has etc

I said this in other post, you can summon a creature, one of his powers being metamorphosing into a weapon, but he can't use any of his special abilities while in this form (no extra damage or turn, etc)
