Though I may not have much experience with the system, the opinions I've read on the following forum voice my own very well.

On the DnD4th topic: I enjoy the fact the system keeps its nose out of development. I've found most players and GMs I've met won't allow natural progression and progress themselves. For a point of what I mean in 3.5 is the GMs I've seen being mad because your playing a lawful evil cleric who kills someone randomly. That doesn't follow [insert game rule here such as class, god, domains, alignment, ect.]. The system is there to deal with combat and gives some lore to work with. A good GM and players can fill in the blanks.

onto the actual topic:
Eh...depends on what the servant could do otherwise. In standard Anima 1k of gold is enough money in my eyes for a peasant to agree to follow you for a while into danger even (although he might get scared and run) if he thinks he might get more out of it.

That is exactly my take on the system as well. Smiley

Well, if we were to use the D&D standard, a peasant makes 1gc a year.  Throw a few hundred at him, and you've basically bought his loyalty.

I don't expect my servant to fight or anything, I just want my own private Nodwick is all.
