So, I didn't really know where to put a thread like this, so I decided to stick it in the News section. I noticed that Saga I & II Characters have a distinct card format (AP Meter on the side, Stats wrap around the middle) while Saga III Characters have a distinct card format as well (AP Meter in the middle, Stats vertical on the left). I have a two questions concerning this, mostly directed at AnimaStudios and other forum members who have direct influence on the business:

1) I like the Saga III Card Format a lot. I find it much more aesthetically pleasing and similar to the book than the Saga I & II Card Format. Will each following Saga have its own card format, or will you stick to this one for the rest of Anima (because this current card format rocks)?

2) I noticed that you re-printed Khaine's Card in the new format. Do you plan on doing that for all Saga I & II Characters, reprinting them on the new format?

I can't directly answer your questions, but I do know that Honigkuchenwolf has a number of revised cards on his page, where he updated older cards to the new format.

You can find what they got so far here:

Well, this Summer I really really really don't have the time for anything besides my office job and studying. For me, summer vacation is even busier than the rest of the year. I'll retake doing the cards after my September exams.

I'm really sorry, but there's nothing I can do about it right now...

How exactly do you make those revised cards? If I knew how I would help out.

Ooh, wow Azur Alliance and Empire look good! Like, really good! I must say excellent work guys!

Is there any way for an Anima player to get the new Formatted cards without having to re-buy the models? Cause I would love to see Dinah and Ophiel in the new Card Format, but I already have them, and would not like to have two models when all I wanted was the new card.

EDIT: Oh wait, are these fan-made? Or are these legit from the Anima business?

These are 'fan-made-with-blessing-from-the-company'. Cheesy
They provided us with the source layout, the rest of the work is ours. So no, they're not for sale, they're for you to print yourself Smiley

@planeswalker

Any chance of you explaining how you made these cards so maybe we can give you some help to speed up the process?

Not really. I've got my own templates in Photoshop which I use to speed up the process, along with some tricks and techniques I learned that make the cards look more faithful to the original. Those would not be easy to explain, really. The first cards I made took far longer than now. Have a little patience, when I can get my hands on them I promise they'll be coming quite quickly.

I think they said before that once they run out of the old cards characters will be sold with the new cards.  It would be a waste to just throw out a big stock of perfectly usable cards and they are nice enough to allow the fan made cards instead of selling those "faction decks" like some other game I used to play.

For the same cost as that faction deck I could have afforded 9 whole cards from the Anima store!

While a faction deck would be less likely to sell...an advantage card deck would be awesome. But, theres a diferent thread with a lot on that...somewhere...I cn't remember exactly where now though. XD

hi,

on the contrary, i think i like the old format of character cards a little better than the new one. am i the only one here?

so it's really cool knowing that the company provided the source layout for the cards, wondering if they could do the same with the old design. i would love to do the layout of the newer characters into the old layout when i purchase Saga 3 minis Tongue. i am fluent with photoshop as well.

hi,

on the contrary, i think i like the old format of character cards a little better than the new one. am i the only one here?

so it's really cool knowing that the company provided the source layout for the cards, wondering if they could do the same with the old design. i would love to do the layout of the newer characters into the old layout when i purchase Saga 3 minis Tongue. i am fluent with photoshop as well.

Really? The old one always seemed so cluttered and my eye always strained a little bit when seeing it, especially because they used the card's space kind of oddly:

Whenever I reference "the book", I mean the Saga I & II Book.

1) First of all, the Action Recovery Bar is on the side in the old format, which isn't nearly as eye-catching as the horizontal one in the middle of the new format. Having the AP Bar go up is a lot more straining to the eye than having it go sideways, which more closely resembles how the AP Bar is shown in the book.

2) A peeve of mine is how the Stats on the old card curve around the picture, rather than in the new format, where the Stat numbers are bigger and whiter, and they drop straight down the side, aligning with the Faction symbol. This is much easier to read, is much more aesthetically pleasing (as it straightens out all the sections of the card), and more closely resembles how Stats are shown in the book. Plus, it leaves more room for the picture of the Character itself.

3) The text of the new format is also more aesthetically pleasing to me than in the old format. The old format's text reminds me of black ink written on scrolls, which, to some degree, is reminiscent of a how a fantasy feels. But the new format utilizes white text on a colored background, the color of which is determined by the Organization of the Character. It's more colorful and lively, and it more closely resembles how the book displays the A:T cast. The font of the Special/Innate Abilities is more favorable as well, as each Ability is the color of the Organization of the Character, not just a standard black that each Character receives.

In essence, I prefer the new card format GREATLY because the new format is more colorful, is much straighter and neater than the old format, and it coincides with how the A:T Cast is displayed in the book.

I hope they continue to print out cards in the new format for Sagas IV, V, and etc. But I do not know if they will provide you a Photoshop-friendly format of the old card. They probably will though; I see no reason to deny a loyal customer what he/she wants to do with his/her own time and effort.

I sort of prefer the old ones. I can deal with the curve as it helps me to distinguish more quickly by position, not just by symbol, which sometimes requires me to double check that I'm looking at the right stat. The new card design is much "sleeker" though.
