Before the roll

For both or just the +2 to the roll and then once you get a hit and see how far the throw is you can declare if you're gonna use the throw? Sorry, shoulda asked those seperately Smiley

Unless it says other wise, like Elienai's Deus Vult, any bonuses to dice roll must be declared before relevant dice are rolled.

I skimmed through this thread for an answer, but I couldn't find one.  Sorry if it has been asked before.  I'm a bit confused about Clover's power of Superior Undead.  What kind of things specifically does that apply to.  I already know Clover can not receive Guidance points since he has no Influence.  So what other things would it be beneficial for him to be undead?  Here are the things that came to mind...

- Promethea's ability Rebelio, that gives +2 Attack to an undead unit.  Can Clover get buffed by that ability?

- In the Black Sun rulebook, it says all undead are immune to poison.  Does that mean Clover is too?

- If an undead character goes out of control, can Clover declare himself undead to avoid getting attacked?

Those are the only other situations I could see where that rule would come into play.  Is that the correct thinking?  Is there anything I'm missing?

That all looks right. The power isn't complex, it's pretty much exactly what it says. If you want him to be undead, for any reason, at any given moment, he is...or otherwise he's not, whichever you think is better at the time.

Clover does not receive the attack of Arkham, Legion of crows, being undead.

Superior Undead: Clover may be considered Undead at his controller’s discretion. So for effects that benefit him he may be considered Undead, whereas for effects that hinder him he will not be considered Undead. Clover doesn’t suffer from the Uncontrollable rule or have an Influence value.

For negative abilities like poison, does that mean he will not be considered undead?

Wasn't sure if the wording was just an example. He could become undead to get buffs but would be targeted by negative states like poison. This came up in a game today, just needed to clarify.

Yup he is Undead if it means he gains immunities, but living to avoid any restrictions.  So he is immune to Poison like other Undead but is living so he can use Heal.  He is Undead for Promethia bluff but is living so he can take Advantage Cards.  He is Undead when Out of Control units are looking for its next meal, but living if any anti-Undead specials come up.  Basically he cherry picks any good aspects of being Undead while avoiding any drawbacks.

I think it's important to be clear that this all happens at the same time.  You don't have to say, "now he's living" to gain a living buff, which makes him all of a sudden susceptible to poison.  It's just that when considering the impact of any rule, the controller decides whether to consider him living or undead.
