This is giving me a headache LOL (but at least I'm learning. I'm reading the book)

I quoted the wrong place Embarrassed (energy attack rules instead of area attack)
and erm still not perfect.

Given that Fireballs are an area effect anyway (-120 to Block unless you can Block Energy or -80 to Dodge assuming you can not move out of the area), the benefit is not that great.

and yeah I definitely agree with you that 3 fireballs isn't optimal in all cases.

Optimal in case of high defense and no armor, suboptimal in case of low defense high armor\damage accumulation.

LIke spirit crusher said, if you attack only 1 person with the fireball. Depending on his defense ability you will want to use 3 fireball or 1 big.

Someone base on high evasion would be the 1 big, someone based on on block with low armor would be the 3 fireball, someone with high armor would be 3 fireball.

but for group wise, wishing to hit as many person as you can on a open battlefield would be the big one, firing at small group at different position could be either depending on your own position.

How exactly I gain spells?

Ok so Here it goes

1. Let's assume i've got character with 10 int and natural knowledge of the path
2. I use it all on fire

Now I've got 40 points due to Natural Knowledge and 50 points from my Int
How now I get spells? If I use all of it in fire will I get 90 fire and spells up to lvl 45? Or how? Please describe it to me Smiley

if you put 90 magic levels in fire, you can cast up to level 90 spells in fire. but to cast level 81+ spells in any school you need the right amount of gnosis. also, you need to learn it from someone/somewhere.
GMs will usually limit lower level casters from spending all their ML in magic paths.
also it costs more ML to learn spells of opposite paths.

if you invest 50 ML into the path of Darkness you will know all Darkness spells up to level 50 - as magic paths contain only one spell at each even level thats a total of 25 Spells.
