Hi!

So, I've got myself a Google+ invite, and it seems that I sometimes can invite other people too (yesterday night I could, this afternoon I couldn't, now I can again!).

So, if anyone is interested, just PM me your email address and I'll try and invite you.

If enough people join, I might make an anima'ers circle! Cheesy

What is Google+ anyway?  I have heard the name pop up recently but have no idea what it actually is.

It's the new attempt of Google at a social network. It's been wildly succesful in its first days and many already consider it a potential facebook killer, it's that good.

It really trumps facebook and the like in the organization of contacts, and how -and to whom- yo publish info. (I'm not a fanboy, I call it like I see it Tongue) I think everyone should at least give it a go.

Sounds interesting enough.  However, as I've seen with social networking over the last decade they will all end up copying the new ideas each other has.  Trying to topple facebook is a pretty hefty challenge (being owned by Microsoft gives them deep pockets).  It'll be interesting to see how this plays out with facebook making moves to being a gaming platform as well as social networking (the game I'm currently translating has pushed back its release date hoping to use the facebook platform).

@Akat - IIRC, Microsoft doesn't own Facebook outright.  I know they've got hundreds of millions wrapped up in the company, but that's a (small) slice of the overall pie.

@planeswalker - You should find me. Now. Cool

That's odd.  I remember the news of it being bought back in like 2008 or so.  Then again, shares could have been sold between then and now.
