Hey guys,

So I did something the book told me not to do and brought in a weapon and shield made of inaccessible material. The material in question is Ghestal Wood and the location is Goldar.

Where once the sword and shield were +10 they are so old and deteriorated that they lay a shadow of their former glory at a meager -10. Though the group only has inklings of the true significance of the duo I am curious as to how many ways there are to repair the set.

I'm sure there are magic spells or matrices that can do the trick but I'm also not sure just how literal I should take the, "Only the Duk Zarist know the secrets to crafting it" line.

My question is, what ways can you think of to repair the blade so that I can accurately plan out possibilities for game?

Thanks in advance,
Kaiden

Creation mages seem to be a dime-a-dozen among the PC groups people talk about here.  You have one of those?  Or a mage in the group willing to invest a whopping 6 points in the Creation path?

Because Reconstruct (Creation 6) is pretty much what you're looking for, assuming the GM allows for it.  I'd ask him first.

Also the problem is that every time someone pulls such a combo he gets killed by some kind of Lazarus or such.

yeah but with that spell, you're asking a mage to have 12 intelligence and making him spend 240 zeon(about) because a +10 weapon has +100 presence. so depending on the base weapon, say it has 20, well you need to cast for a presence of 120. thus the 12 intelligence and 240 zeon.

Details, details...

240 Zeon isn't that much. Plus it has no maintenance so it only needs to be cast but once and you have the items permanently.
EDIT: although 12 INT may take till level 4-6.

I created HOUSERULES for re-forging things (for those who don't have access to Creation Magi),

HOUSERULE: It takes a forge check of on less difficulty than what would have originally been needed to make the items, below that fails to remake the weapon. If the item has a quality bonus and you succeed by two degrees you make it better than before, by +5 (assuming the material can handle it). If you fail by 3 or more difficulties you destroy important materials and decrease the items quality by 5.

You just need to take a single day to cast it as a ritual and up your int to 12 if you started the game with 10. Of course the spell would now cost 480 Zeon...

Cool,

I was wondering if it would be as simple as that spell. Too bad there are no magi among the group. There is one psychic with access to atomic restructuring though.

Atomic Restructuring would work, but I believe it would require a Forging check as if forging the weapon for the first time. Not positive though.
