Hello,

I got to watch a demo game the other day and am pretty interested. The game looks pretty fast, fun, and cheap. All good things, and who doesn't like Anime? With the rulebook in the mail, I've been perusing the models. We're going to be playing some pretty basic 100LV games to start, and I am wondering if anyone has some good suggestions on who/what to pair with Erika? (From Empire? The model is just too amazing IMHO to pass on.)

Thanks,

WK

If you and your group have had any experience with tabletop miniature gaming I would suggest starting out at 150 level game.  It allows for more strategy instead of luck that can get out of balance quickly.  But if you are set at 100 levels then I would go with Faust Orbatos a wanderer.  I would even recommend to you and your friends take at least one wanderer as well like Khaine, Sophia, Dereck, Tsubasa, Akio, all from the wanderer boxset.  These are older models but most stand up pretty well and in the box set they are rather cheap, getting 6 units for around $30-40 depending where you buy.

Your friends can get one unit from whatever Org they like and mix and match units to better learn the game.  Go the the Ciper Studio store to see all the latest released units, as the rulebook doesn't have them all only Saga I and II.

You can also go to the Anima Tactics Oracle, here http://atoracle.wikidot.com/
It lists every available figure's stats. It also lists a small handful of unavailable figure's stats as well, so you may have to make sure what you're looking at is actually on the market. Most of it is.

I agree on Erika...I had to make an empire team when she came out because the character and figure were too fun to pass up. Tongue

at 100 levels, it won't really matter who you pair with Erika I think. Although I recommend getting a tank just because it's fun to watch your opponent when they realise 'wait, your guy has HOW much hp???'

Erika is a pretty decent light tank.

Consider support partners such as Evangeline (though she only comes in the starter box with Kronen who is a good tank as well) or Sophia. They can up Erika's attack value to help hit more often. Eva has a great healing spell as well. If you don't want the starter you could consider Astraega or Aoi.

Another idea is to take her with a heavier tank. Pretty much any of the big armor guys from the Empire work here.

Lilian is another good partner. She's another light tank but can also cause healing and give bonuses.

Another good idea is to use a stealth model. Erika ties them up and the assassin sneaks in for the kill. Unfortunately, most of them are incompatible with Erika (most of them tend to be Dark type which clashes with Erika's Light type). However, you can use Takanosuke since he's neutral.

Soooo many choices. Thanks for all the suggestions. I keep eying Macbeth. That little 3LP heal every turn seems sort of cool.

When I first joined, I had a hard time as well. I think the easiest way to pick a team is to just look through the models and select one you think looks the coolest.  Every team has its pros and cons - so you really cant go wrong.

I started my Azur Alliance army with Claude Valmore. I thought he looked awesome. I later found out his abilities are no fun. Still enjoyed painting him though.

Yeah; I started out with Rayne, Veronica and Female Wissenschaft Agent... One of the squishiest Wissenschaft lineups for the least average damage output. Tongue

Collecting Anima figures is kind of addictive. The game is all, "you only need two or three figures to play!" But then you start thinking, "if only I had someone tougher/faster/with cooler abilities/who would work really well with X" and before you know it you've collected an entire Organisation! ^^;

Oh, yeah, that's how we all got there too. Two orgs fleshed out pretty well, eyeing two more...
