Everyone in our group is a D&D 3.0 veteran, with myself as a long time GM. We have also dabbled in Exalted and a few other non-d20 systems. We haven't touched d100 yet though, and Anima is looking pretty awesome. I picked up the core rulebook and started reading through it, and I get most of what is there. My questions are as follows:

• Are there any potential pitfalls/commonly misinterpreted mechanics that we should be wary of? (in D&D people tend to miss the Manifester Limit on psionic augments for example)

• Does the game suit itself to an adventure of the week style? (specifically one without a GM, where players vote on rules problems and a random table handles plot twists)

Not really a good DM-less system, there aren't any random encounter tables or random loot tables or anything like that. It did just get a creature book so that would help a lot, but if you are going in with just the core rules you'll need someone putting in the DM work to get ready

We are probably going to use Universalis for the story generation and plot twists. Encounters themselves will probably just use a base NPC statblock and a deck of randomized modifiers to the creature (the techniques or tricks)

I suppose it could be possible, but Anima has a big roleplaying side to it. Roughly half of your skills tend to be in noncombat stuff which would end up going to waste without a story.

Unless you all take mixed classes.

A conversation I've had to have with my players multiple times is how Amplify Sustained Power stacks with things, or more correctly, doesn't stack.

Amplify Sustained Power does not stack with anything, whether it's another advantage, free PP, psychic crystals, or whatever else have you.  If you are questioning as to whether or not Amplify Sustained Power stacks with something, the answer is probably no.  Only permanent increases to Psychic Potential are modified by Amplify Sustained Power.

im sorry, but not only permanent to psychic potential, but any free pp spent to "specialize" powers also works.
