I am very new to Anima and I am trying to find/make a weapon, preferably a short sword, that does energy damage (if it exists, I figured it does but am not sure). I searched the forum but to no avail and I have tried reading various sections of the book, but again found nothing. I am probably just looking in the wrong places.  Any information would be much appreciated.  Thank you.

There is no such thing except as an artifact possibly.

This is the description of Energy damage as listed on page 67:

Energy: These are attacks of mystical origin that affect the soul and
essence of an opponent.

Hmm, darn.  Are there any good ways for non-ki users and non-magic users to do energy damage then?

Energy damage is intentionally out of easy access because of it's power.
I assume that Prometheum Exxet may have some rules of use.

Using Martial Arts, you can learn Velez (advanced Martial Art) which lets your punches do Energy damage, it requires Use of Ki, but you aren't required to know any actual Ki abilities.

Arighty, Velez looks like it would do the trick. I understand energy is a powerful tool, I am not looking for something over the top.  My character is just a ranger, I went with something very simple as this is the first time I have played Anima. First session we encountered a ghost.  There is only one magic user in our party and the other two players are totally mundane.  I was just looking for a way that at least one of us could have a way of damaging a creature like that, I mean besides the warlock.

To damage such creatures you have to take the Aura Extension Dominion ability.
It is cheap and obtainable at level 3.
Also it add +10 to damage and allows to block energy. Pretty much a must have if you ask me.

Velez have very high prereqs and MA are Tao only due to it's cost.

precisely, you dont need to do energy damage, but being able to damage energy is a must. there is a slight difference between the 2.

Alrighty, that makes more sense.  I was thinking you had to be able to do energy damage in order to do damage to energy.

Thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate it.

Are there weapons in the system that could damage a ghost (energy based being)?

Able to damage a ghost is inherently magical ability.  There is no weapon in the game except artifact that can do such a thing.  If you want to damage the ghost, you must have magic or ki or some other supernatural ability.

In Anima, people without supernatural power are at horrible disadvantage against people with supernatural power.  This is intended.

Ah, okay.  That's too bad (for us in this case).

Why is that intentional?

I mean, I understand the setting, I've read the history of the world.  It just seems like it is so unfair to anyone who wants to be a hero that is a warrior/un-supernatural.

Mainly because nearly every hero worth his salt with find some way to damage energy, usually through the Ki Ability presence extrusion. Want to be a warrior hero? Work on that martial ability of yours. (Or find some super powerful blade of magicness)

Yes I suppose that is true. I was just hoping to be a support character in my game, I don't want to cast magic and I would rather stay away from ki. However, I will do what it takes in the end.

Originally I was trying to find a "magic" weapon, I didn't want it to be over powerful, just normal with the ability to do damage to energy based beings (so that I wasn't useless in half the battles).  But as was stated, twice above, the only thing really like that in the game would be an artifact.

Also, if the end of the matter is, "you must be at least this supernatural to win," what does the Weaponsmaster do?
