I'm not arguing but is the answer an opinion or written somewhere?
It was discussed on this forums. Some early Al-Djinn thread.

Thank you both for the replies. @Lizbeth: i checked the thread yesterday after Ape2020 gave the link; i've read it in fast forward ( ), the question had been asked but had never been answered.

May be it was other thread the discussions around the Al'Djinn were intense. Or my memory fails me, in which case I'm sorry. However I'm pretty sure that it was told somewhere that copying the same character won't reset one use abilities.

Fair enough. When you use Lv25 Ash Slaves, can you pay the 5Lvs to buy abilities from their cards, or it's just for game purposes (what abilities affect them) only?

Abilities. Otherwise they'll won't differ from 20 Lv version they utterly fail to qualify for Lv-dependant benefits like damaging Intangible creatures or avoiding effects like Morrigan's Space Control.

No you can't buy more agent options. The 25 levels is a guideline as to what level agent you get for use in game purpose only. You can only "buy" stuff when building your party; unit levels, undead modifications, agent options, summons, advantage cards, optional leadership, etc, etc. Any levels you have after the game starts is wasted and go away. -ape2020 -ape2020

Sorry I think I misunderstood your question If you meant when you create a 25 lvl Ash Slave do you use the extra 5 levels for your choice of option? Then yes you use it on options for that type of agent. So an Empire agent can have extra armor or do more damage, but not extra AP regen since that is a 10 level option.

Thanks for the reply.
Another question that came to my mind. Can you use area attacks if there is no enemy nearby? For example, can Covel target an area that there are no models within 4" when he declares it?

Covel's Dark Sun is a special case that clearly states in its rules you are aiming the attack at a Devastation marker and not an enemy unit. One little exception to this is that if only hidden characters are within the range of Dark Sun the attack will automatically fail as if there were no units in range. You can just target a rock or friendly character since its not a legal target. And if you do have a legal target but its out of range then it fails automatically no rolls or AOE. -ape2020

Thanks Ape2020, that's exactly what i thought. When i tried Covel, i used the Sun to stop the enemy models from advancing by targeting empty spots since no model would remain still until they were engaged in combat. I guess if you have a friendly unit within 4" of a hidden unit, and you target your unit in order to hit the hidden enemy model too, the attack against the enemy unit fails...? If not, i felt like cheating a bit when i did so.

No it will hit since Dark Sun states it effects "all" units within 4" inches. A few melee AOE and all Ranged Attack AOE use this phase. It means even friendly units are legal targets, so nearby hidden units will get blasted too due to indirect fire.
