I have a player wizard of 5th level who recently acquired this spell. At first glance it seems OK...but then we had a laugh figuring out you could encompass a Nimitz class supercarrier and haul it around with you.

Is there a errated version of this spell with a Presence limit or something similiar?

As far as I know it is not limited by presence in the Core Exxet.

Nope, not limited by presence, just by area and a MR check for living and animated beings Tongue
So yeah, you could walk around with a Nimitz class carrier IF you have the INT to cast it Grin

Levitation Sphere
Level: 70-80
Action: Active
Type: Spiritual
Effects: This spell causes objects and creatures to levitate. The caster can decide what will levitate and what will not, regardless of weight or size. Objects or people suspended in the air are moved by the caster with a Flight Value 6. Those wishing to resist the effects must pass a MR check. Only animated or live beings are entitled to a Resistance Check, as are constructions endowed with supernatural characteristics.
Casting Level:          Base         Intermediate         Advanced               Arcane
Zeon:                           150                200                             250                          300
Req. INT:                       8                   11                              13                            16
Base: MR 80 / 25m Area
Intermediate: MR 100 / 150m Area
Advanced: MR 120 / 250m Area
Arcane: MR 140 / 350m Area
Maintenance: 15 / 20 /25 / 30 Daily
Closed Paths: Earth, Water

So no presence or weight limit, but getting to 16 INT for a Nimitz (333m) isn't that easy Grin Of course, there are ways around it such as CP advantages and Rituals, but walking around with that thing isn't a good idea... it can be done though Wink

I only have the Core rulebook where my wizard player can lift aircraft carriers! Smiley

Once my Arcana exxet arrives though I will update to the new rules. That seems to neatly sew up my concerns if I'm reading your spell write-up correctly.

Care to explain how the various Casting Levels work? And how you buy them with Magic Levels?

In My Opinion: Anima is a very interesting game, by all abilities it seems to want to be an over the top powerful epic fantasy game with ridiculously powerful everything. The NPC's support this, as do the Artifacts. However, the fluff wants to indicate this as Dark Fantasy and such power is hard to obtain. This creates a distinct dissonance between the campaign setting and everything else, including the characters within that setting. Many seem to be surprised when things like levitating a battleship are found, but other than the world fluff it seems this should not be beyond the possibilities of many of the people in the world.

They work like Added Effects. You do not buy them with Magic Levels, if you have the INT and Zeon accumulated you can cast them just as Added Effect in the base book. In the example above, if you have 15 INT you cannot cast the spell at Arcane without increasing your INT by 1 through a ritual. However as soon as you get 16 INT you can use it without a ritual.

I agree with you Lia. There is an unfortunate disconnect between rules and the world setting. Trying to maintain the low key feel of Gaia while a typical engagement between high level opponents can have effects felt for miles around is a bit of a pain. In the end I tend to run it like the world of the Black Company. Most people are ordinary and will never experience the great spells and powers of the world so it remains mostly rumor. But when the great powers come out to play all you can do is keep your head down and hope they don't notice you. Otherwise magic remains rare (except in the case of players, but thats to be expected).

I think Black Company is a great inspiration for an Anima campaign, for reasons outlined. You can tell who has The Gift or Inhumanity in a way that feels very natural within the setting and not just a "game" thing.

Well, long term flight anyway. It isn't like you can't fly with magic and ki, you just can't do it forever.

You're right. But still I expect character to fly more than 5 min per day.

Hmm. Levitation Sphere is a Daily spell. Short of how much Fatigue you have you can fly all day, every day with that spell. You can bring your home village with you too.

Guess I'm not seeing how magic is limited in the flight category. Its very epic and very powerful, and arguably more powerful then Psychokinetic Flight.

Ki...eh. Its meant for grandiose but temporary feats, IMO. No problem with its flight being limited.
