Uuh, in that case, don't be disappointed, because it is only similar in concept, and not actually a double.

For example the world is not split into humans and other races, but there are societies hiding right between them.
The mechas are also alot more present, better say "dominating", and the whole world is in a quite undefinable technological state, that is industrialized no doubt, but yet the world is underpopulated and even kind of primitive in alot of areas (usual FF-futuristic setting? ). So it is definitly not 'fantasy - but with lost logia', like Anima.
The religious thematic is also quite obscure and doesn't have anything to do with the gnosis/natura apparatus we see in Anima. The only thing I see is this soul-mill/engine/worldprinciple topic, but that is present in alot of other settings too, not to mention that it is roughly taken an ancient idea preceding even the greeks. Quite the coincidence to have it around in both settings though.

So you won't really get a clone of Anima's setting, but you will naturally find alot of similarities.
The main reason is this power in the shadows thing I guess, because it is quite unique. Without it, I would just judge it as as much similiar as alot Animes and JRPG's must be similiar to Anima, because they are just part of the same genre.

Almost all of this is correct, except for the gnosis part which both xenogears and anima lift directly from the historical gnosticism, where basically your relevance to the world is represented by your awareness of divinity: gnosis.

So, if your gnosis is 0, you're agnostic?

Well it seems that Gnosis in Anima is the reverse of Gnosticism, because it's not so much your awareness of divinity, but more divinity's awareness of you.  Smiley

"I still believe in God, but God not longer believes in me" - paraphrased from, appropriately enough, KULT (I think it was from a song).

As for gears, I keep meaning to stat it out but never find the time for it. To represent a pilot inside a gear you could give them a few (2-3) extra levels of Warrior, change size upwards, turn them into a DR creature (as per TWWAU, turning points invested in defense into DR life points) and buy a lot more life points and some appropriate monster powers with the extra DPs. External weapons like Theurgia's sword should probably be modelled separately.

Incidentally, has anyone else wanted to get that for their PC to wield Grin
