I definitely agree. The old cards were very annoying in that respect...
All the stats should be on the front of the cards, in a single row at the top, or a single column on the left. The dual row/column idea is just a waste of space because unless you had a huge number of stats, you always end up with an oddly shaped empty space. And it doesn't make it easier to memorize anything... (for the sake of saving space though, the life points do not need to be a stat as it is quite explicit in the life point gauge)
On the other hand, the life points do not need to be in a straight line. It's even a bad idea when you consider models like the Great Damned of Wrath and his 20 life points: it's going to look rather cramped on that one column to add 6 bubbles to the 15 we see there...
Personally I don't really get the choice of having the picture of the model in the bottom right area of the card, but that is clearly not as important. And I also find the choice of a thick black border around the card a bit odd, even if it doesn't really matter much if everything is organized efficiently (which it isn't on these pictures).
Finally, another thing to keep in mind when re-designing the cards is that it makes the core rulebook outdated...

Is the picture of the core deck for the $45k stretch goal or the Officer level an indication of what the new card design is going to be like? If so you might want to look for feedback from actual players. Two columns for the stats is a very inefficient design, as is putting them on the right hand side rather than the left.
I've seen this two-column design on a few new and/or upcoming games now, and it seems to me that it is just an attempt at looking more creative by doing something different. I'm sure the old cards had a lot of room for improvement, but that sort of layout really does not contribute to improve anything in my opinion.

Yes there is a lot more coming. The stretch goals are juicy. Why not show any tease about things to come then? I want to get in on this one, I really do, but you really don't show anything enticing thus far... That said I'm glad many people jumped in already. Hopefully the goal will be reached quickly so that we finally get to see new Hell Dorado stuff.

Hell Dorado / General Discussion / Re: Cipher has Announced Kickstarter for Hell Dorado Expansion

Not much news in these teasers, is there? The Saracen concept has been around for months, and while new subfactions are exciting, we've known about them since long before Asmodée dropped the game (known about their future existence, not necessarily what they are... but then again neither do we now). And the only thing that came to my mind when reading the planned evolution of the factions is "way to state the obvious...". For each faction, the direction they are moving towards is the one direction already clearly taken by the one new model in that faction that came out in the past 3 years.
I assume there will be more to this expansion than these very unsurprising reveals. It is just too bad everything in this long awaited bit of communication from Cipher ends up being so predictable.
On the plus side: Students of War, gorgeous models!

There's no story, really. No official one at least. A number of HD models look nothing like their artwork in the book, because most artworks were drawn long before the concept arts were generated, i.e. without paying heed to sculpting/moulding constraints, or without a clear definition of what the model would be like. I can imagine that the game designers just told the artist (her name is Anne Rouvin) "she's going to be a nun-assassin", Anne just put on paper whatever image that evoked to her, and then later the designing team (game designers, both sculptors, and the concept designer Bertrand Benoit) decided to make her some sort of ninja-nun instead.

Devoured.... .... When hit by this state a unit with less than 10 Life Points (as its starting stat) is always Devoured. A unit with more than 10 Life Points..... What about 10? Surely it should fall into one of those two groups or is this magical number somehow immune The French version reads: "When hit by this state a unit with less than 10 Life Points (as its starting stat) is always Devoured. A unit with at least 10 Life Points..." So did the early fan translation. I guess it's one of the things the official translators didn't copy-paste from that old file.

Presumably, you cannot heal while dead. But, that is only a presumption. That is not a presumption. "Dead" is a state described p67 of the book. In particular: "A unit with 0 LP or less is dead and eliminated" and "[...] a dead unit will not normally have a chance of returning to the battlefield at a later point in the game" Foulques is removed with no possibility of coming back. Healing would essentially imply that he comes back, so he can't do that. So your unit is dead with 1 LP... I get that it's in jest, but that statement really makes things more confusing than they are.

Hell Dorado is long overdue for some ranged weapons that are neither gunpowder or thrown/exploding maggots sling ammunition. War disks, poisoned spears, spit, throwing daggers... HD doesn't have a whole lot of ranged weapons, but it sure has much more than just guns and maggots

(at last a company adds the markers and templates on a sepreate removable sheet (heavy quality) so you don't have to start cutting off a page in the actual book) That was the case in the French book from Asmodée already. And without wanting to say anything bad about Inifnity or Malifaux (I enjoy both games), but their initial rule books needed a second printed revision, because the FAQ / Errata was almost a book in its own and you can rest assured that won't be needed with Hell Dorado. Yeah in a large part because the game existed (as in had a community, tournaments, support,...) for 2 years before being taken down, and because a few of the original players and developers put a lot of efforts in fixing everything that wasn't working smoothly in that first version. I mean I too think some complaints are a bit exaggerated, and we should be grateful that the game is dead no more... But I don't see the point in giving extra credit to the Cipher boys either.
