Hell Dorado / Rules Discussion / Duration of Pain
|
on: July 24, 2012, 09:46:41 AM

|
There is a Weapon Ability "Pain X" where the target suffers the effects of being wounded for X turns.
Assuming X is 1, does this last until:
a) The end of the current turn b) The end of the afflicted model's next activation c) The next activation of the model that inflicted the Pain effect d) The next activation of whatever model was the active model when the Pain effect was inflicted e) Something else.
I browsed the rulebook briefly the other night but couldn't see it, thanks!

Also, just to throw something out there...
If kickstarter is the difference between a product existing and not existing then use kickstarter please! As a gamer and a fan I'd totally rather see the game exist than not!

Hell Dorado / General Discussion / Re: Kickstarter

Just to give a different POV, as a game store owner I always take into account whether a project has been kickstarted when deciding how much to order. I was burned once when I ordered a bunch of a game I thought was going to be great and had a ton of buzz - only to find out anyone who was interested in it kickstarted it and got it that way.
You obviously make out selling the product att full price via kickstarter rather than wholesale to a distributor who sells it to me - but you risk stores not ordering or pushing your product because it's not worth it to them and that *could* hamper sales even more.
It's a rough line to walk, Local Game Stores and Game Manufacturers need each other in order to survive and I wonder how this "direct to consumer" approach Kickstarter brings is going to affect the gaming ecosystem in the long term. It will be interesting.
oh and btw, I am not "anti kickstarter" or anything like that, I just have to be a realist and not get stuck sitting on 6 copies of a game because that's bad for my business.

Hell Dorado / General Discussion / Re: Eurynome Demon List

Yep, I'm all for supporting Cipher and advise people to buy the new over the old, all of my models (bar Eurynome) are from Cipher. That being said, I'm impatient and loved the model too much to wait...besides, that is all off topic would you like to comment on the list? Sorry, I honestly didnt mean it to criticise you for where you made your purchase, I was responding to Phineus who was asking if he missed an announcement. Unfortunately, although I own all the models for Demons released to date I have yet to get a game in =*( so I feel grossly inadequate to critique your list! The mourner is good, and the GD of Wrath seems amazing for the points (on paper). Due to it not being released yet I barely even know what Eurynome does!

Eurynome was listed as their MAY release. Based on that I will certainly be waiting to: a) get the english card and b) support Cipher rather than picking up a French version, I recommend anyone who wants to see Cipher release more miniatures do the same! (Not to mention it also supports your FLGS, but I may be a little biased on that point )

I got emails from my distributors saying Kartikeya is available for order today so talk to your FLGS (or if you don't have an FLGS let me know and we can figure something out!)

Hell Dorado / General Discussion / Re: Cipher - Is there a production problem for Helldorado?
|

Thank you for the kind words. We'll be catching up with most of the releases by or before May except for Hecatondies which we've had development problems with. Another reason we're behind is that our restock orders have been very heavy which impacts our new release schedule. We're packing Lynn Steiner, Empire box Set, and Valentine for Anima. We're casting Jafar al Efrit, Damned One of Gluttony, Etruscilla, Aiden Saint James, and the Imperial Sentinel Demon now. We have been releasing things every month we just got behind our very aggressive schedule. Awesome, being too busy filling restocks is kind of a good problem to have eh? Glad everything has been good on the business side, I hope things pick up on the personal side. You have a bunch of loyal customers/fans wishing you well. I have been promoting the game at my store and people are very interested. Thanks for the communication and info, it makes a huge difference!

Over the last several months we have fallen behind on our release schedule due to several reasons. Primarily there have been several family tragedies (two deaths, one near death, and an off work injury of our production manager) in a row and since 2/3 of the company are family (my brother and myself) we have lost a lot of time. We have also been ramping up production by hiring additional staff to keep up with our current demand. Hopefully there is no more catastrophic bad luck and we'll be caught up soon on our releases. The plan is do be on schedule with our May solicitations. We apologize for these delays.
Wow, sorry to hear that. I hope you didn't take my question the wrong way and feel like I was complaining - I enjoy the game and have collected 1 of every blister for Westerners/Saracens/Lost/Demons so I'm obviously fiending at the prospect of new models!!! I just wanted to hear from you guys and know everythign was going to be ok I know at least Phukmanyeman knows what it's like to deal with a non-communicative game company that just stops making miniatures =\ So right now the plan is (and I by no means am holding you to this, stuff happens, just want to understand your guys goals) to by the end of may have the february, april and may releases waves all out? Or did you mean you were going to push the feb waves back to may, may back to june etc?

where are you getting this info? last lot of releases Cipher put up on the home page was the one including Fatima, Anna Pavlova & the damned ones of Sloth. When were the releases you speak of announced?
My distributor shows me what is supposed to be coming out each month, so we had feb, march and april releases listed. The March ones are appearing but the feb ones are still MIA. Does anyone from Cipher read this forum? Can you give your loyal fans/customers a heads up on what's goign on?

Well I just heard from my distributor that the late Cipher shipment is coming in tomorrow afternoon so that's good news.
Like I said production can get held up, especially for a smaller company like Cipher, I just wished they had been more communicative about it so I could have let my customers know "hey there was a problem, expect it at the end of march".
But yay, Tsilla, Da Wenti, Kartikeya, Salah ad Din, Vincenzo Maculano de Fiorenzuola will be here soon!

They were releasing models every month and they have models that were supposed to go out in February, March and some scheduled for April but we haven't seen the Feb ones yet.
I know that especially for a smaller size company a hiccup in production can set you back a month and I'm fine with that - just looking for some communication from the Cipher folks.

Hell Dorado / Rules Discussion / Re: Knocked down rules help

When you say French Rules vs English Rules, did Cipher actually put out rules in both languages that conflict? Or are we talking about the previous version of the game put out by Asmodee (that happens to be in french) compared to the current version of the game put out by Cipher (that happens to be in english)?
