Hello, my name is John. I own and operate the Amorous Armadillo Game Shoppe in Winter Park, Fl.

I've been following Hell Dorado for a bit now and while I thought the sculpts were superb, past experience has proven that it is very difficult to sell a game that doesn't have a well written English language rulebook(at least in the US).

The new book has remedied that and I am now stocking the product in my shop.

Typically, we'd do an escalation type of event for a new game. Given the small size of the game however, this doesn't seem like it would work for Hell Dorado.

So, I guess my question is, what type of gaming events have worked to help get people playing.

I'd start with starter set matches- Just get people playing.  Maybe a league of sorts.

From there, escalate that up to 200 points, which is the standard size.  Players should earn points by the games they play and the hobby aspect, as well as a few points for winning your match.  Add the terraforming rules in at the end.

Then, I'd work on tournaments at the 200 point level using the complete rules for scenarios and terraforming.

While this method may not be feasible for some, I went ahead and painted minis from all the factions to show them off (and am now closing in on having every released model painted) This catches peoples eyes.  I then had my demo forces and played almost constantly with anyone who showed interest.

From there, starter box games USING SCENARIOS.  This avoids the dreaded Westerner/Saracen issue.  Yes I agree with you that an escalation scheme is not optimal in a game where 8 to 12 models per side is the norm.

We have scheduled demo days as well, and this helped greatly.
