Firstly dear Mr Mod can we please have a separate area for battle reports, rather than this becoming a single thread for all our battle reports - 'despatches from hell' may be a nice title.

Firstly I choose to play Lost instead of the usual Demons as it would be an excuse to get the models out of the box. I then decided to use as many models which don't figure in the starter box as I could so my list was:-

Isha-Akshay, 2 x Squamata warriors, Vorenus, Spitter, Fangs of the Pit, 2 x Corvus Tormentors, 2 x Nomadic Squamate

I had in my head a little back story for the game - those of you whom have come across Balgins and my work on other forums will be used to the style - sorry to the rest.

Isha was in conversation with Vargas after both forces had cleared the rocky crag of Vantage point from the blasphemous Satanists.  Vargas draw a slow long draught from his water bottle with a few drops dribbling down the outside of the skin to land on the charred, dry, dusty soil below. Isha waited patiently, like a dog waiting for scraps from the masters table until the stopper was replaced, "Give". "No" said Vargas, "You can drink the brackish water without ill effect, we need the purity of this Mary blessed water to sustain our bodies and sustain our soul".

"we fought, we perished, we deserve"

"Eye you did all three and I'm sure that you found some trinkets to keep - NOW GuNNERS show our guests the out door".

The arquebuses were trained with military discipline upon the unwelcome monstrous but moth eaten 'guests' awaiting the order to fire!

Isha-Akshay had seen enough of these thunder sticks in action to know that now was not the time to press the point so with a wave of his hands and a brief utterance of withdrawal .

Funny how men drink to forgot but the Lost drink to remember - the cool clear clean draught unlocks memories of more pleasant times......before 'they' came

I have a few things to add / ask but first the scenario was Conquest - we will play the others at some time, honest.

My question Balgin whom had the 2 fathoms control area as it really messed up my charge lanes for the Fangs of the Pit - as I'm struggling to find whom it was.

What would I do differently next time - well have a second shooter would seem a good idea as my boys did not seem to be very good at damage output. Also should have tried to push the other nomad into your back third.

Well community - having seen the pictures and read the battle reports what tips, hints etc. would you like to add.

It was the Doppelsoldner. Lunge 2 means he ahs a 2 fathom control area and protective means he doesn't lose it when engaged. They're pretty good defensive troops but vulnerable to conditions.

I should be having another game this coming monday against a bunch of Saracens. I'm thinking the shooty westerners won't do a great job so either I'll be using a company of knights or a group of mercenaries lead by Don Quixote or Andre de Montbard.

I'm tempted to see how 1 dopplesoldner, a few support types and the healing lady would do under the Don. Maybe even throw in mr "not a Space MArine" too to give the dopp some support.

I think it was just one. I've dithered over the photos as I took less and can't remember wich turns they were from. Additionaly the renewed request for a new forum for reports ahs put me off posting in case a space suddenly appears to put them in. So I waited.

So here's some pictures from my game of Knights vs Saracens a few weeks ago. Forgive me if my memory's a bit hazy but I know we were playing around 220 points (so I could try out the heal (with a player who isn't Chill :p)ing lady and the filfthy arabs could have something extra too). We played to a very satisfying draw, enjoyed ourselves, chatted, had a few drinks, and promised to play again sometime.

And so we set up

Rushing into the middle we both engaged in vicious battle. One of the swordsmen tried to hack apart the ice but was slain by a savage panther.

With more fighting in the middle the mounted knight grabs an objective and dashes back to the woods.

Saracen long gunners catch on and grab some treasure too while the knight fetches more to even the score.

Georg von Holbein chases down a long gunner and the mess lady engages the other to prevent Saracen victory.

The sneaky genie grasps the treasure the fallen gunner dropped and makes  abreak for the finishing line passing right through the knight who, turning in his saddle, rides it down and slaughters it a fraction of an inch short of the end zone to claw back a draw! Meanwhile our ehaler ahs happily disposed the other long gunner.

Big game tomorrow. One of the knights (Don Quixote or the Templar) will be arrayed with an assortment of peasants, squires and other riff raff against a large force of hulking lost ones. Actualy, I'm kind of thinking surely a lowly templar with mail, spear and shield could be used as a stand in for a deserter since the spear's as much a reach & recieve charge weapon as a halberd. I'll be using a selection of men at arms with maces, hand axes, clubs and so on as damned souls anyway. Pitty they won't be very painted but it'll be a fun game anyway.
