Wow what a great set-up there.  Those are some good looking models too!  Thanks for the pictures and inspiration for terrain building.

Well, all things considered I wouldn't say that the scenery isn't amazing as such, but definitely well done and effective. Works great in HD.

Silveri, while its amazingness is of course in the eye of the beholder, you did not offer anything constructive or helpful to bring the scenery to the next level. If you are going to be negative in anyway you should have some constructive criticism. As per the rules of this forum do not comment if all you are going to offer is "It's okay, I guess."

I don't really think you were trying to be negative per se but it certainly can come off that way. Please offer some concrete points about how you think it might be made better for posts like this in the future.

My friends and I have found funny make a battle of four factions with our miniatures.
We enjoyed making the photos and we hope that the images that are here in this topic also like you as much as we liked taking them.
Words such as Amazing and Wonderful are absolutely subjective and I apologize if it may have seemed exaggerated but they reflect the fun that we felt in proposing them to you. Wink

For anyone who hasn't built terrain, it's easy to criticize.  I for one have the utmost respect for the builders of this table and terrain.  I've built plenty of terrain for our local club and for one who is just getting into it, it takes a sheer amount of talent, and dicipline to build a decent set up like the one above.

The work alone in man-hours must have been staggering.  The process is time consuming and from the looks of it took many people to finish.  Realizing this project must have been great fun.  Planning, Gathering the materials, building, basing, and painting.  Hard work for even the most enthuiastic hobbiest.

Manba, would you mind going over how you based the table?  It looks like you used some sort of spackle over a thick styrene board, but I'm not sure.  Also a quick painting tute would be great!

I was only a guest, I am not the creator of that scenery (i'm a poor painter).
I'll surely turn questions to my friends Wink

Well, as I have built terrain before and didn't supply enough critique (due to answering perhaps too quickly), I'll try to compensate.

The way the canyon has been done is having put 3 blocks of foam on top of each other, some roughing at the edges, some texturing with filler, some sand and then painting and drybrushing. Yes, it seems impressive enough, but it's not really that difficult to accomplish and the way it is done is certainly something I'll consider also doing in the future.

What's bothering me a bit is that the edges of the canyon are perhaps a bit too rough to my tastes and perhaps I'd prefer texturing it with a filler material and then using a comb or a similiar instrument. (see reference: http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/tgd/images/deep_canyon_v04.jpg). Also, the top level could benefit from a bit of cork board that's been frayed at the edges and also some sand to the edges. I would also have done the board in a more modular fashion, but this again is more a matter of taste than anything else.

As the board is just a canyon and lacks objectives (which certainly can be added later on), I would suggest adding statues with bluish-gray hues to bring some "life" to the board.

My one main comment is I wish this was more in line with a battle report. I don't know what is going on game wise and I wish I did. Cause this all looks really fantastic!!! The paint jobs on some of the miniatures are real good from what I can tell.
